London filmfest honors Iran ‘Dash Akol’

The 15th edition of the London Independent Film Festival (LIFF 2018) in the UK has awarded Iranian animation ‘Dash Akol’.

Directed by Hajar Mehrani, the animated piece ‘Dash Akol’ won Best Animation award at the LIFF 2018.

The animation narrates the story of Dash Akol, his love story, and his fights with an old rival, Kak-Rostam.

The title ‘Dash Akol’ is adopted from a short story written by renowned Iranian writer Sadeq Hedayat (1903-1951).

However, the animation director has claimed that his work departs from the narrative wherever symbols are concerned.

Mehrani’s animation is narrated on the basis of dialogue and a music score by composer and kamancheh player Maryam Chaleshbayan.

The London Independent Film Festival is a British film festival that takes place annually in April.

The London Independent Film Festival is the premier event for micro-budget and no-budget films in the UK.

The LIFF offers a fantastic opportunity for indie filmmakers to showcase their achievements, with spaces reserved for first and second time filmmakers and for films that have been overlooked by other events.

The 15th annual London Independent Film Festival has been held on April 13-22, 2018, at Kino Bermondsey. The award has been announced recently.
